How RecallHack Works

Watch it, listen to it, or skim it

Choose the format you are most likely to use. The message is the same in each format.

Watch · about 90 sec

Guided visual tour

A captioned, auto-advancing tour. Narration is optional.

Listen · about 3 min

Hear how it works

A plain-language explanation of the features, listening choices, and study process.

Why it works · about 2 min

Research-informed design

The short version

1
Add the class and syllabus

RecallHack proposes an editable roadmap. You approve dates before they affect the plan.

2
Add what you are studying

Slides, readings, notes, assignments, and permitted lecture recordings stay organized by class.

3
See what matters

Start with the big picture, MUST KNOW concepts, and source links.

4
Learn one thing at a time

Keep the study map visible if it helps.

5
Listen when reading is not the best fit

Hear the complete source, a Learning Summary, or a Study Review. Resume where you stopped and use listening study controls when something matters.

6
Retrieve before looking back

Answer from memory, check against the source, and rate how difficult recall felt.

7
Return at the right time

RecallHack schedules review and uses upcoming exams, quizzes, and assignments to help prioritize Today.

RecallHack Coach

Give me one next step

Break the task down to the smallest useful action.

Show me the big picture

Reorient to the topic and where the current idea fits.

Explain it another way

Change the representation without changing the source.

What do I do next?

Use progress, reviews due, and the roadmap to choose a useful next action.

Books & assigned reading

Using a textbook or book?

Upload the book once, choose the chapter/pages you were assigned, then use Study this reading. For literature, set I’ve read through… first so RecallHack can avoid spoilers.

Add material

Add what you’re studying

RecallHack keeps page, slide, and transcript references so you can check where study material came from.

Books & Assigned Reading

Upload once. Study the part you were assigned.

RecallHack keeps the whole book as a source, but builds study sessions from the chapter, section, or pages you choose.

How this works

Use the book once. Study only what was assigned.

1Upload the book onceSearchable PDF, DOCX, TXT/MD, or DRM-free EPUB.
2Choose the assigned readingSelect a chapter/section or enter exact PDF pages.
3Study only that partRecallHack builds Big Picture, Learn, Retrieve, and Teach Back from the selected reading.
4Ask questions with citationsAsk the reading, chapter, book, or class and open the exact source section used.
Course Roadmap

Keep the class schedule current

The syllabus creates the starting roadmap. Edit dates anytime when the professor changes an exam, lecture, reading, or assignment.

Books & Assigned Reading

Study a textbook, novel, play, or assigned book

Upload the book once, choose only what you were assigned, and let RecallHack build study work from that scope.

1. Upload the book

Choose Book / textbook when adding material. RecallHack supports searchable PDF, DOCX, TXT/MD, and DRM-free EPUB.

2. Choose the assignment

Select the chapter/section range or exact PDF pages. Add a due date if you want Today to prioritize it.

3. Study the assigned part

Study this reading creates a normal RecallHack study session using only those chapters/pages.

4. Ask the material

Use Ask This Reading, Ask This Chapter / Section, Ask This Book, or Ask This Class. Answers retain clickable source citations.

Literature: spoiler protection

Set I’ve read through…. RecallHack will not use later chapters when answering book questions.

What RecallHack does not do

RecallHack does not bypass DRM and does not yet OCR image-only scans. Use an authorized searchable file.

What’s Included

RecallHack features

The app handles the organization around studying so the student can concentrate on understanding and remembering the material.

Books & Assigned Reading

Upload textbooks, academic nonfiction, novels, plays, and assigned books. Choose the chapter, section, or PDF pages you actually need; then study or ask that exact reading with source citations and literature spoiler protection.

Course Roadmap

Syllabus-driven, editable schedule for exams, quizzes, lectures, readings, and assignments.

Source Uploads

PDF, PowerPoint, Word, text, and permitted lecture recordings stay organized by class and source.

Books & Assigned Reading

Index searchable PDF, Word/text, or DRM-free EPUB books once, then study the assigned chapter, section, or PDF pages with literature spoiler protection.

Big Picture

Start with what the material is fundamentally about before getting buried in detail.

Learn

Work through one source-linked concept at a time with the study map available for orientation.

Retrieve

Answer from memory, check against the source, and use confidence/difficulty to support later review.

Teach Back

Explain the idea in your own words instead of relying on recognition or rereading.

Full Source Listening

Hear a document or lecture transcript in order, change speed, jump sections, and resume where you stopped.

Learning Summary

Hear the big picture, MUST KNOW points, important details, connections, examples, and final recap.

Listening Study Controls

Replay, mark important, ask for an explanation, and save a source section to the review list.

Audio Review

Quick, Full, or Exam Review with source links and retrieval pauses.

Exam Prep

Use upcoming assessment dates plus saved progress to focus effort where it matters most.

RecallHack Coach

Get one next step, restore the big picture, ask for another explanation, or start a quiz.

How to Use

Watch, listen, or skim the process; the guided tour is available again anytime.

Research & Evidence

Audio Review

Listen to what matters — then retrieve it

Audio is a review tool, not passive background listening. The script stays visible so you can reorient if your attention drifts.

RecallHack Ask

Ask one source, one class, or everything you have saved. RecallHack cites the material it used and tells you when your sources do not support an answer.

Outside explanation is always shown separately and is never presented as if it came from your uploaded source.

Research & Evidence

Research-informed — not yet validated as a product

Important: RecallHack itself has not yet been shown in a controlled study to improve grades, retention, ADHD symptoms, or executive functioning. Its design uses learning strategies that have independent research support.

Retrieval practice

Trying to pull an idea from memory can strengthen later retention more than repeated restudy under many conditions.

Roediger & Karpicke, 2006

Spacing

Distributing learning over time generally improves long-term retention compared with massing study into one period.

Cepeda et al., 2006 meta-analysis

Relevant words + visuals

Well-designed multimedia can improve learning when representations support the content and unnecessary processing is reduced. RecallHack does not assume fixed learning styles.

Mayer, 2017 review

Smaller steps + visible structure

RecallHack externalizes the plan, keeps the next action visible, and segments complex work to reduce unnecessary planning and working-memory demands.

This is a design rationale, not evidence that RecallHack treats ADHD or executive-function disorders.

What we can responsibly say

Supported: RecallHack uses retrieval practice, spaced review, source-linked feedback, segmentation, and content-appropriate multimedia.

Not established: that RecallHack itself improves academic outcomes or is a validated intervention for any diagnosis.

College supports

Use RecallHack alongside formal accommodations

RecallHack can remember the academic supports you enter or approve, but your college or school determines official accommodations and how they are implemented.

My saved accommodations / supports

No accommodations entered yet.

Before the semester gets busy

  1. Contact the disability/accessibility office if you want formal accommodations.
  2. Submit documentation using that institution’s process.
  3. Confirm exactly what has been approved and how professors are notified.
  4. Keep important approval information easy to access.

RecallHack stores study-support settings; it does not approve accommodations or lower essential course requirements.

My Learning Setup

How RecallHack should support me

Build a functional learning profile from a short questionnaire, accommodations you enter, or an optional evaluation. RecallHack does not assign a fixed visual/auditory “learning style.”

Evidence & conflicts

RecallHack shows when your questionnaire, approved document, and accommodations agree—or when they do not. Formal accommodations are never removed by a questionnaire result.

Add more than one source to see how they compare.

Turn any adaptation off if it does not help. RecallHack shows the reason instead of making hidden decisions.
